Eco-Discovery Camp

Speak For The Trees for AGES 9-12

July 24-28, 9:00 am – 3:00 pm

Spend your week exploring Great Hollow’s forest! We’ll learn about the different parts of a tree­­ and the role they play in a forest’s ecology. Campers will also learn basic tree ID, the different products made from trees, and the threats our forests face. We’ll also set aside time for hiking, exploring Quaker Brook, and arts and crafts.

Topics covered: parts of a tree; dendrology; dendrochronology; native vs. non-native trees; invasive species

Arts and crafts activities: leaf rubbing; bark rubbing; model tree; tree paint-along; recycled paper

 

Please be aware:

Cancellations/Refunds: Please contact us as soon as you know your child can no longer attend so the space can be made available for other children.

-A full refund will be given if cancellation request is made at least three weeks (21 days or more) prior to the start date of your camp week

-A 50% refund will be given if the cancellation request is made between 14 and 20 days prior to the start of your camp week.

-A 25% refund will be given if the cancellation request is made between 7 and 13 days prior to the start of your camp week.

-No refunds will be given if the cancellation request is made less than 7 days prior to the start date of your camp week*.

Full refunds will be issued for a positive COVID-19 test taken within 10 days of the first day of camp. If the camper has already started a week of camp then the refunds will be prorated. Written proof of a positive rapid antigen test, a positive PCR test, or a written note from a physician will be required for refunds. Full refunds will also be issued in the event a camper becomes ill with any of the emergency illnesses and health conditions listed on the state of CT’s Reportable Diseases with a written note from a physician.

In the event we must close due to causes beyond our control, including but not limited to: extreme weather (high heat index, tropical storms/hurricanes, etc.), power outages, fire, epidemics, or government action, refunds will not be issued.
