SUMMARY:Pollinator Power
DESCRIPTION:With the flowers and trees finally starting to bloom\, pollinators like bees\, butterflies\, and beetles are getting to work! Pollinators like these are essential to the functioning of our ecosystems and agricultural system\, but they are currently under threat all over the world. In this virtual class\, we will identify key pollinators\, explore pollinator-plant relationships\, and learn what we can do to protect them. The program is most suitable for children ages 6 to 10\, but younger and older children (and parents) are more than welcome to participate.  Please email our education coordinator Maggie for more details and to register. Free for members and non-members.

SUMMARY:Epic Journeys of Migratory Birds
DESCRIPTION:Did you know that some migrating birds will fly more than 600 miles in a single day? That’s a lot of flapping! And did you know they can see the magnetic fields of the Earth and use them to determine which way is north vs. south? It’s happening all around us right now as millions of birds are returning to the area to breed after having spent the winter in Central and South America.  In this virtual class\, we will follow the fascinating and often perilous journeys of migratory birds as they make their way north for the summer. Using real-world data and interactive activities\, we will explore how migratory birds navigate\, where they stop to rest\, and what obstacles they face along the way. This program is most suitable for children ages 6 to 10\, but younger and older children (and parents) are more than welcome to participate.  Please email our education coordinator Maggie for more details and to register. Free for members and non-members.
