Welcome our Newest Education Animals!

Great Hollow

On April 24th, we acquired our first birds of prey to use as animal ambassadors in our environmental education programs. The two male Barred Owls have come to us from a wildlife rehabilitator in New York State. Both owls have wing injuries that could not be fully healed and prevent them from being able to fly well enough to survive in the wild. Their injuries are most likely the result of a collision with an automobile. They have a great home here at Great Hollow and are sure to be a big hit with our visitors and program participants. They are on display outdoors year-round and the public is welcome to come visit them any time! These owls have a big appetite, so if you’d like to make a small donation towards their care, please click here.
