A Trip Back to the Last Ice Age

January 11, 2020 @ 1:00 pm - 3:30 pm

In this next installment of our kids’ Winter Ecology series, we’ll travel back in time to Connecticut’s prehistoric past and discover the incredible power of ice! During the last ice age, mighty glaciers covered all of the state, breaking down rocks and carving out the valleys that we all call home today. We’ll venture out into the icy landscape and explore the effects of ice on the natural world. We’ll start off with a hike, go on a geology scavenger hunt, and collect different rock types that hold the secrets to glacial activity thousands of years ago! Then we will head indoors to warm up while we conduct some icy experiments, play games, and decorate our rocks.

This is a drop-off program open to children ages 5-10 years old. Please email our education coordinator, Maggie, at with any questions or to register. $15 per child for non-members; $10 per child for members. Advanced registration is required and space is very limited.
