Did you know there are over 7,500 cultivar varieties of the domesticated apple? Apple trees have a long agricultural history in Connecticut and at Great Hollow. Join us for a presentation on all things apples from our naturalist and CT Master Woodland Manager Ben Lee. We’ll start in the lecture room with a discussion and overview of apple species, a history of their cultivation, and best practices for growing your own trees. We’ll then take a short walk outdoors to look at the apple trees at Great Hollow before pressing apples into cider. We’ll return to the lecture room for light refreshments and an opportunity for additional Q&As.
