Join us for a presentation by herpetologist and Great Hollow research fellow, Dr. Griffin Nicholson, on the fascinating ways reptiles and amphibians survive the winter. We’ll start with a brief indoor presentation on “thermal ecology” and the strategies Connecticut species use to survive the winter. Dr. Nicholson will also discuss how anthropogenic changes can impact winter survival of reptiles and amphibians and how we can help these sensitive species survive a vulnerable time of year. We’ll then take a short reptile and amphibian hike around Great Hollow, focusing on overwintering opportunities before returning for light refreshments and an opportunity for additional Q&As.
