Bird Research Up Close

September 28 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am

Celebrate fall migration with a special bird-banding demonstration by Great Hollow ornithologists, Dr. Chad Seewagen and Dr. Sarah Deckel, at the Connecticut Audubon Society’s Deer Pond Farm Sanctuary. Participants will receive a close-up look at how federally and state-permitted researchers safely catch migrating songbirds, mark them with identification bands, and collect measurements and other basic data. We’ll also talk about the remarkable behavioral and physiological adaptations that allow these tiny birds to fly thousands of miles between their northern breeding grounds and southern wintering grounds.

Please register directly through the CT Audubon Society by clicking HERE

Note: This event is at CT Audubon’s Deer Pond Farm (57 Wakeman Hill Rd, Sherman, CT 06784), NOT at Great Hollow.
