Kids’ Nature Night: Eyes on the Skies
December 7, 2019 @ 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm
In this next installment of our Kids’ Nature Night series, we’ll take advantage of the clear winter skies to uncover the infinite mysteries of outer space! After we learn the basics of celestial navigation and astronomy, we will use a telescope to find important navigational stars, constellations, and any visible planets. While we stargaze, we will play games, learn how to orient ourselves using just the night sky, and make our very own “astrolabes.” Afterwards, we will warm up with hot coco and discuss everything from astrophysics to the fascinating stories behind the constellations.
This is a drop-off program open to children ages 5 to 10. Parents, it will be chilly and we will be outside for long periods, so please be sure to send your child with warm clothing and footwear, and gloves. We will provide a campfire dinner of hot dogs and veggie dogs with all the fixings, and juice. Please feel free to send your child with an alternate dinner from home if you would prefer. Registration is $20/child for members and $25 per child for non-members. To register, please email our Education Coordinator, Maggie, at . Space is limited.
