Great Hollow is kicking off a 3-part series for kids to engage in fun activities that will teach them some of the most fundamental and important skills for surviving in the wilderness. The series starts with Fire Building on Sunday October 23rd [MOVED FROM SATURDAY DUE TO RAIN], with one session from 10am to noon and another from 2 to 4 pm. Kids will learn how to identify local trees and plants that are best suited for kindling, tinder, and fuel, be taught a variety of techniques for setting up a fire, and be allowed to practice lighting with matches, flint, steel, and bow drills.
